Coat Drive Details

Why the Gap is an organization focused on promoting health equity through education and providing resources to combat the social determinants of health that presently affect historically disenfranchised populations.

For low wage earners, the cost of coats can ruin a monthly budget and put families at risk for loss of utilities and even possibly a roof over their heads. A gift of a warm coat allows families to conserve financial resources for other significant needs such as rent, utilities, groceries, and transportation costs. While donating a coat may seem like an afterthought to many, it can also be seen as a notable gesture that can help prevent homelessness by allowing parents to keep their children warm without sacrificing other needs.
